The largest obstacle for receiving an interesting work position for many applicants is poor knowledge of foreign language which is necessary at the workplace.
Although they used to learn the language in the past during the time they lost the ability to communicate and on top of that they never had a proper source of vocabulary and phrases from their branch.
How many times did it happen that the employee had to refuse the foreign business trip because he wasn´t sure whether he is able to speak English well?
And how many mistakes were made because of the misunderstanding of the professional terminology?
How many times you were late with sending an e-mail to a foreign customer because you had to find every second word in a dictionary?
And how many people in your office is able to answer a telephone when they hear an English-speaking voice?
"We don´t need our employees to speak in the language courses about general conversation topics like weather, family or leisure time. We would really appreciate if they could use the special language and would be able to use it in practice immediately," say more and more frequently HR specialists of the companies.
Brief description of the project:
The OPEN DOOR project is focused on the development of the language education in vocational English and is intended for the employees of the enterprises in the Pilsen region.
Description of the project:
The demand for the comprehensive system of special language teaching, qualified teachers, suitable textbooks and other didactic equipment related to work issues, is continually increasing. The courses of general English nowadays seem to be deficient. "We want our employees to learn especially the vocabulary connected with their work specialization. We need English teachers who are able to teach the specialized language of all levels which our employees would use directly in their line of business," define their requests HR specialists.
The answer to these requests is the educational project OPEN DOOR which is implemented by Grafia, Ltd. company, in cooperation with the Economic Chamber of the Pilsen Region and The University of West Bohemia, Pilsen. This project is supported by The European Social Fund and the state budget of the Czech Republic. It is one of the few projects in the Czech Republic, which is focused on language education in enterprises.
Project OPEN DOOR is aimed on the development of the specialized English language education and is designated for the employees of the enterprises in the Pilsen region. The goal of the project is increasing the language knowledge of employees according to the need of employers.
1st phase (September - October 2006) - the survey of the exact requirements, needs and the present state of the language education in the enterprises of the Pilsen region
2nd phase (January - August 2007) - preparation of the training materials:

metodic manuals for teachers

metodic manuals for HR specialists

audio/video recordings for teaching the specific vocabulary in practical situations (with the didactic handbook)
3rd phase (September 2007 - June 2008) - pilot teaching of the specialized English modules in the enterprises of the Pilsen region.

Each modul contains 20 practical topics, specially created textbook which content was consulted with the specialists and the video recordings with native speakers (DVDs).
